Description

Accessory cords from 4 to 8 mm diameter conform to the requirements of the UIAA and EN564.

Dyneema 5,5 mm: Much lighter and more versatile, it may be used on chocks or as fixed line.

Pure Dyneema 5 mm: 100% dyneema accessory cord particularly suited to making foot loops and secondary anchors for caving. Never use to make self-locking knots (Melting point : 145 C)

Uses:
To make a sling we recommend the double fisherman's knot, except for Dyneema cord, which requires a triple fisherman's knot.

For prusik loops we recommend the use of our 7mm accessory cord, or our 5.5mm Dyneema.

Because Dyneema is very slippy, cords made from it present sheath slippage.

For this reason they must not be used as the second line during abseil descents.



USE
Accessory cords must only be used for auxiliary purposes in climbing, mountaineering, caving and for work at height.
They must not be used as climbing or belaying ropes.
Dyneema accessory cords have very low friction characteristics, and thus may suffer sheath slippage.
They must not be used as the second strand during abseil descents.
The various components of the safety chain (harness, karabiners, tape, slings, anchors, belaying devices, descenders) should conform to UIAA or EN Standards.
To make a sling or loop we recommend the double-fisherman’s knot, except for the Dyneema cords which require a triplefisherman’s knot.
For Prusik loops, we recommend the use of our 7 mm accessory cord, or our 5.5 mm accessory cord in Dyneema.
Use of the 5mm Pure Dyneema cord for prusik loops or as the second line on abseil descents is absolutely forbidden because of its low melting point temperature.
PRECAUTIONS:
The cords must be protected from sharp edges and other mechanical hazards.
When affected by water or ice the cord becomes much more sensitive to abrasion and loses strength: redouble your precautions.
The temperature in which the cord is stored or used must never exceed 80°C. The melting temperature of polyamide is 230°C, that of Dyneema is 145°C.
Before and during use, the possibility of rescue in case of difficulty must be considered.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE:
A cord must not be allowed contact with chemical agents, particularly acids which may destroy the fibers without visible evidence.
Avoid unnecessary exposure to UV, store the cord in a cool, shaded place, away from dampness and direct heat. For transporting, bear the same considerations in mind.
If the cord is dirty, it may be washed in clear cold water, if necessary with a washing agent designed for delicate textiles, using a brush made with synthetic bristles. Disinfect only using materials that have no effect on the synthetic materials used.
If it is wet, after use or washing, leave to dry in a cool, shaded place.
Before and after each use inspect the cord visually and manually along its entire length. Knots must be checked regularly.
This product must be inspected periodically and meticulously, every 3 months if in frequent use, annually for occasional use.
Never hide any deterioration under adhesive tape.
The cord is personal equipment. During any use away from you it may be subject to grave damage, which may not be visible.

LIFETIME:
Lifetime = Time of storage before first use + time in use.
The working life depends on the frequency and the type of use.
Abrasion, UV exposure and humidity gradually degrade the properties of the rope.
Storage time : In good storage conditions this product may be kept for 5 years before first use without affecting its future lifetime duration in use.

Lifetime:
- Intensive and daily use : 1 year
- Weekly and intensive use : 2 years
- Daily in-season use of average intensity : 3 years
- Weekly in-season use of average intensity : 5 years
- Several uses during the year of average intensity : 7 years
- Very occasional light use : 10 years.

Attention: These are the nominal lifetimes indicated, a cord could be destroyed during its first use. It is the inspections which determine if the product must be scrapped more quickly. Proper storage between uses is essential. The lifetime of the cord in use must never exceed 10 years. The total maximum lifetime (storage before use + lifetime in use) is thus limited to 15 years.

The cord must be retired earlier:
- if it has held a major fall, approaching fall factor 2
- if inspection reveals or even indicates damage to the core
- if the sheath is very worn
- if it has been in contact with any active or dangerous chemicals.
- if there is the slightest doubt about its security.

The various cases of wrong use shown in this notice are not exhaustive, there are innumerable wrong uses possible, it is not feasible to show them all.
This product is designed for climbing and mountaineering only.
Climbing and mountaineering are inherently dangerous.
Special knowledge and training are required to use this product.
This product must only be used by competent and responsible persons, or those placed under the direct control of a competent person.
Failure to follow these warnings increases the risk of injury or death.
The use of “second-hand” equipment is strongly discouraged.
