Art. 218 – Stainless Steel BELAY STATION : 2 ROCK (O10)+ 1 chain + 1 round ring (O10)

Stainless steel belay station, similar to art. 180 but with one abseil ring. This belay station requires the use of an additional carabiner for the abseil, which can be retrieved at the end of the climbing session. If placed in an appropriate situation, the single ring can be used as a classic lower-off.

Created in stainless steel AISI 316L (2013) and composed of 2 ROCK (O10) bolt hangers (art.110) + 1 chain (art.175) + 1 round 10mm-thick ring (art.177). Internal ring diameter = 32mm. This abseil ring is made of 10mm-thick stainless steel.

However it does not hang perpendicular to the rock face.

As mentioned above, this belay station is designed to be supplemented with an additional carabiner which at the end of the climbing session is retrieved.

This is the only way in which the station becomes versatile and multidirectional.

This is particularly useful for rope retrieval as the supplementary carabiner can be weight-loaded on either side without catching on the rock.

This station is compatible with all disciplines (climbing, mountaineering and canyoning).

The key feature of this belay station is its price, which is the lowest in the range.

It is usually placed using stainless steel screw anchors.

We recommend using stainless steel Hang Fix M10l screw anchors (art.157).

Placement Advice:
1
-The placement surface must be completely solid with a crystalline structure.
-As well as visual evaluations, a good method is to strike the rock vigorously with a hammer.
-The sound produced should be dry and dull rather than hollow.

2
-Use an appropriate drill to create the hole in the rock (the lower of the two, designed to bear the load) taking care to make it exactly perpendicular to the placement surface.
-The required SDS PLUS drill bit is 10mm diameter (such as art. 198) and the depth must be at least 5mm longer than the length of the shank (90mm).
-A deeper hole has no ill-effect on the anchor (although naturally it wastes the drill's battery).
-Make sure that the bit diameter is exactly equal to the anchor diameter, and that it is in good condition.
-At this point continue to the placement of the Rock bolt hangers.
-After mounting the screw anchor on the hanger, insert this into the hole and strike it squarely with a hammer to fix the hanger to the rock.
-Turn the Rock hanger in the direction of the load then use a hex key 17 to complete the placement, twisting the nut to an appropriate torque.
-Now take the second Rock hanger and hold it above and to the left or right of the first hanger to find the ideal placement.
-(please note: RAUMER belay stations are the only ones on the market which make this possible!).
-Note: the chain with the two long rings should not support this ring but be placed at a distance of 1cm.
-This allows the abseil ring full freedom of movement to support the load.
-The dual anchor is backed up by the Rock bolt hanger placed above.
-For correct placement, we recommend drilling the second hold at a maximum angle of 45° (left or right) from the first.

3
-Continue to drill the second hole and repeat the process to fix the second bolt into place.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
-From 2013 the material used in the majority of our anchors is now stainless steel AISI 316L, which offers a higher resistance to marine corrosion than the former AISI 304.
-To highlight this change each article is stamped with the relevant symbols.

Attention:
-There is also a “Marina” version of this anchor which is highly resistant to saline corrosion.
-To mark the difference between stainless steel AISI 316L and the marina version of the same material, all marine-suitable anchors have been marked with a fish symbol and the initials “INOX".
